Player Injury Fund
Participation in Gaelic Games carries an inherent risk of injury and Caragh GFC encourages all players and parents/guardians to familiarise themselves with the GAA/LGFA Injury Benefit Funds.
These funds are a support scheme provided by the GAA/LGFA for registered playing members who sustain an injury during officially sanctioned training sessions or matches. The fund is designed to assist with certain unrecoverable medical expenses but does not replace private health or personal accident insurance, which is strongly recommended. Information on both funds can be found here:
Players, parents/guardians, and mentors should note that injuries must be reported promptly, and claims are subject to timelines and procedures, including registration through Foireann where applicable.
If a player is injured, the player/parent or team mentor should notify the Club Assistant Secretary as soon as possible:
Maria Byrne – Assistant Secretary
Phone: 087 120 0454
Email: assistantsecretary.caragh.kildare@gaa.ie
Maria will act as the club contact and support person, helping to guide players and families through the process and providing information on the steps required should a claim be necessary.
Any additional support provided by the club towards physiotherapy or medical-related expenses is funded directly through club fundraising and member support initiatives. As these are not externally funded, assistance is provided in line with club policy and available resources.
